About The Song

Nashville, TN (December 15, 2022) - (615) Hideaway Records is proud to announce that Audie Blaylock and Redline's "Better Angels Fly Away” for the label has gone #1 on the Bluegrass Junction, SiriusXM Radio MOST-PLAYED TRACKS - December 2022.

“Better Angels Fly Away”, written by Redline band member Reed Jones and tells the story of a son reflecting on the invaluable life lessons his father taught him as he copes with his disorienting loss. It explores themes like the nature of change, the loss that accompanies it, and what is required of us if we want to hold onto the wisdom of the past to pave the way to a better future.

“Drawing on Abraham Lincoln's coining of the phrase "better angels of our nature" from his first inaugural address, Better Angels Fly Away reminds us that we must never cease to call on our "better angels" in turbulent times, lest they fly away. Set to a free-flowing feel that firmly rolls forward, Redline’s musical approach echoes the song's message: we must boldly charge into an unknown future, but we need not do so without the wisdom of those that made us...the wisdom of our better angels”.
