After many decades of focusing on Rural Rhythm’s Heritage artists, (Mac Wiseman, Hylo Brown, Red Smiley, Earl Taylor & Jim McCall, Raymond Fairchild), Sammy 3 urged the label in 2005 to release new Bluegrass music from contemporary artists at the time. Sammy put the word out that we were looking for contemporary artists and one of the first responses was Clay Jones from Mountain Heart looking to do a solo project. Sammy 3 talked to Clay who suggested Jim VanCleve as the co-producer of the album and before we knew it Clay was in the studio with the help of all the members of Mountain Heart (Barry Abernathy, Steve Gulley, Jim VanCleve, Adam Steffey, Clay Jones and Jason Moore) along with Ron Stewart and Tina Trianosky. The first single from the album Mountain Tradition released in 2005 was the hard drivin’ “BF05”. Another highlight was the classic “Gonna Settle Down” with lead vocal by Barry Abernathy, harmony vocals by Steve Gulley…The album contained so many great classic Bluegrass instrumentals performed by top pickers back then and even now 20 years later…give a listen to “BF05” and “Gonna Settle Down”
