Nashville, Tenn. - Rising Bluegrass artist Ashleigh Graham continues to make her mark with the release of her heartfelt new single, “Who We Were Back Then,” out now via Pinecastle Records. The song features six-time IBMA Male Vocalist of the Year Russell Moore, adding his signature harmonies to this deeply moving collaboration. Bluegrass enthusiasts can download and/or stream the full recording HERE.

“This song is about holding on to love, even after it’s gone,” says Ashleigh. “The pictures may fade, and the love letters may be long forgotten, but the emotions stay with us. Sometimes, we wonder if we made the right choice to walk away. That’s what makes ‘Who We Were Back Then’ so special—it captures that bittersweet longing and the possibility that, in another time or place, things could have turned out differently.”

Written by Rick Lang, Nancy Posey and Jack White, “Who We Were Back Then” beautifully explores the lingering emotions of lost love and the memories that refuse to fade. The single serves as the follow-up to Ashleigh’s previous releases, the upbeat original debut “Bless Your Little Heart” and the fan-favorite “Head Over High Heels,” both of which have gained attention in the Bluegrass and roots music community. With Ashleigh on lead vocals and mandolin, “Who We Were Back Then” showcases an all-star lineup, including Matt Leadbetter (dobro), Scott Patrick (guitar), Eli Johnston (banjo), Kameron Keller (upright bass) and Stephen Burwell (fiddle). Produced by Burwell and Johnston, the track blends traditional instrumentation with Ashleigh’s warm, powerful delivery, making for a compelling addition to her growing catalog.

Ashleigh and her band, Appalachian Highway, have been turning heads with their rich harmonies and high-energy performances. They made their IBMA debut last fall in Raleigh, delivering multiple show-stopping showcases during the event’s final year in North Carolina. As they gear up for the release of Ashleigh’s forthcoming album, I’ll Just Drive—featuring a mix of original songs and carefully selected covers—fans can expect even more heartfelt storytelling and top-tier musicianship.
