Mojo’s Mixtape, a 80’s-90’s themed radio show for SiriusXM’s Bluegrass Junction

NASHVILLE, TN (May 27, 2025) - Dark Shadow Recording label-head, Stephen Mougin unveils "Mojo’s Mixtape”, a 80’s-90’s themed radio show for SiriusXM’s Bluegrass Junction. Adding to his career as Sam Bush sideman, producer/engineer for Dark Shadow, and longtime music educator, Stephen is eager to share stories, memories, and great songs from an expansive era within the bluegrass genre.

“I'm thrilled to be joining the satellite airwaves with a brand new show on SiriusXM’s Bluegrass Junction called Mojo’s Mixtape,"  says Stephen Mougin. "Featuring two hours of great bluegrass from the 80’s and 90’s, we get classics from Bill Monroe, Jim and Jesse, and the Osborne Brothers - but also groundbreaking music from Hot Rize, The Bluegrass Album Band, New Grass Revival, Alison Krauss and Union Station, and The Lonesome River Band (just to name a few). That era was a remarkable mix of bluegrass stylings and a foundation of much of the bluegrass jamming scene, and also happens to be the music of my youth. My family started down the bluegrass rabbit hole in the early 1980’s, attending festivals throughout New England, upstate New York, and Pennsylvania, where I got first hand/first listen to amazing performers from that era. I’m so excited to share some songs we all know and love, but also dig into some lesser-known or somewhat forgotten tunes and artists. Please join me on Mojo’s Mixtape - Wednesdays 8-10am EST, Thursdays 9-10pm EST, Saturdays from 10am - Noon.”

ABOUT STEPHEN MOUGIN: Most musicians wear many hats, and Stephen “Mojo” Mougin is no exception. Mojo is best known as a member of the Sam Bush Band and a sought-after instructor. But he is also an award-winning producer and engineer, a label head, mentor, songwriter, band coach, and more. Mojos’ commitment to high standards and dedication to everything he works on have made him an in-demand partner and collaborator for any creative endeavor in the world of acoustic music. Stephen released his solo album “Ordinary Soul” in 2020 and he plans to start working on a new one in the near future. In the past few years Stephen has released music with his wife Jana, most recently “The Wire”.
