About the Song

As lifelong Pennsylvania residents, we wanted to write "The Streets of Kensington" to create awareness of the homeless and opioid drug epidemic in the Kensington District of Philadelphia. Kensington used to be a working class industrial area of Philly and even Stetson Hats were made there. The song also includes a call to God to help those poor souls why lay on the streets living in despair and isolation. We want this song to honor and commemorate the Fransican Friars at the Fransican Inn, which is a soup kitchen in the heart of Kensington. The good friars run the kitchen and feed the homeless. They walk the streets and help the poor souls on the streets. Thank you good and holy friars in your work to conquer the open-air drug market and homeless on the streets of Kensington. We hope you enjoy our song.
