About the show

Amy Orlomoski is a highly respected, award-winning veteran of bluegrass radio, having served as a champion of the genre for over 35 years. A native of Eastern Connecticut, Amy’s deep appreciation for bluegrass was sparked by her brother Dave, a regional picker. Though she does not play an instrument herself, she found her true musical calling behind the microphone during a college broadcasting class. Amy has spent over 25 years as the primary host of the Bluegrass Café on WHUS Radio (the powerful 91.7 FM voice of the University of Connecticut at Storrs). Before bringing her signature style to WHUS in the spring of 2000, she created a strong regional following hosting Simply Bluegrass on WECS at Eastern Connecticut State University for a decade. Her profound impact on the Northeastern bluegrass community culminated in her official induction into the Rhode Island Bluegrass Alliance (RIBA) Hall of Fame in April 2023. When she isn't on the air, Amy serves as the Director of the Andover Public Library, where she playfully considers it her "duty" to introduce bluegrass music to library patrons whenever possible.
