About the show
Braeden Paul is a highly accomplished bluegrass historian, author, musician, and broadcaster based in Plano, Texas. Inspired by his grandfather to dive deep into the roots of acoustic roots music, Braeden has spent his life studying and preserving the genre. He is a well-known voice in the national bluegrass community, serving as a longtime correspondent and music reviewer for the premier industry publication, Bluegrass Today. He is also a published author, having co-authored the definitive books Texas Bluegrass History and Texas Bluegrass Legacies alongside Jeff Campbell. In July 2025, Braeden brought his massive historical knowledge and extensive music library to the airwaves with Braeden’s Bluegrass Blend. The show broadcasts live every Friday from the studios of KNON Now, the digital streaming affiliate of Dallas's legendary community station. Beyond his work as a journalist and DJ, Braeden is a talented mandolinist and vocalist who has performed with regional bands like Blackland Grass and Philip Ferguson & Texas True, and serves on the board of the Southwest Bluegrass Association. His immense popularity earned him 2026 Dallas Entertainment Award nominations for both Best Radio Host and Best Radio Show. On-Air Style & Sound A Curated Roadmap: True to the show's name, the playlist is a meticulously balanced blend of traditional, progressive, and contemporary bluegrass. The Four Pillars: Braeden builds each weekly set around a dynamic collection of tracks that span the new, the old, the familiar, and the obscure. Texas Proud: Leveraging his expertise as a Lone Star music historian, Braeden places a distinct spotlight on Texas bluegrass artists—from legends like Brad Davis to rising stars like Riley Gilbreath. Roots to Trailblazers: Listeners can expect to hear the genre's founding fathers like Bill Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs, and Jimmy Martin seamlessly mixed with modern heavyweights like Billy Strings and Molly Tuttle. Live In-Studio Energy: In a nod to the golden era of radio, Braeden broadcasts live and in-person, frequently featuring exclusive artist interviews and interacting with listeners via real-time messaging.
