Donald Day—known affectionately to his thousands of loyal listeners as Don Day—is an iconic and beloved broadcasting figure in the Canadian bluegrass community. Alongside his partner and co-host Dusty, Don has spent decades serving as the premier champion of acoustic roots music across Southwestern Ontario. Operating through the Bayshore Broadcasting network, Don launched the Bluegrass Express on June 3, 2006. Over the course of 20 incredible years on the air, he turned his weekly Sunday broadcast into an essential weekend tradition for music lovers. Don's massive, multi-station reach includes syndication on popular regional frequencies such as Country 93 (CKYC 93.7 FM in Owen Sound), Country 105 (CFDC 105 FM in Shelburne), Country 104.9 (CHWC 104.9 FM in Goderich), and Country 102 (CJMU 102 FM in Bracebridge). In June 2026, after two decades of dedicated service, Don officially celebrated his final retirement broadcast, leaving behind a monumental legacy as an international ambassador for the bluegrass genre.
