Ronnie Moretz is a premier, long-standing voice in Appalachian broadcasting, originating his signature sound straight from the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Boone, North Carolina. Ronnie’s deep music education and lifelong obsession with acoustic strings was ignited as a child after watching legends Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs pick banjo and guitar on The Beverly Hillbillies. In February 1998, he channelled that deep passion into the airwaves, launching a one-hour Saturday night bluegrass show on 100.7 FM in Boone. The program became an instant regional hit, expanding to a highly anticipated two-hour powerhouse slot. Ronnie’s massive footprint in the bluegrass industry stretches far beyond the studio console. Throughout his multi-decade career, he has served as a vital community bridge, successfully partnering his show with premier regional gatherings. He helped launch the historic, first-ever Doc & Rosa Lee Watson Festival in Sugar Grove, North Carolina, and has maintained a stellar, long-standing media partnership with the legendary MerleFest. In June 2025, to broaden his international reach and avoid programming pre-emptions, Ronnie transitioned Catgut n’ Jugs to a fully independent, global digital streaming format via Live365 and syndicated networks like Bell Buckle Radio.
