About the show
Nestled off the coast of Chesapeake Bay, in his hometown of California, Maryland, Jay Armsworthy records and broadcasts his show, appropriately titled, Bluegrass on the Bay. He has been broadcasting Bluegrass music since 1993. Jay started his radio career with his first live broadcast on Sunday January 17, 1993, on a hometown station, WPTX AM in Lexington Park, Maryland playing Bluegrass music for 1 hour. Since that time, he has been broadcasting weekly on stations around the globe. The show increased to 2 hours shortly after his first airing due to many requests for his show to be longer. During his career, Bluegrass on the Bay has been heard on WMDM FM in Lexington Park, Maryland, WBEY FM in Pocomoke City, Maryland, WNNT FM in Warsaw, Virginia, Worldwide Bluegrass.com, and The Bluegrass Mix.com. Jay Armsworthy is currently heard on: WWSM AM in Lebanon, Pennsylvania; The Bluegrass Jamboree, “live”; Southern Branch Bluegrass and Gospel Music Radio in Powell, Tennessee; WAMU HD Cannel 2 in Washington, DC; Bluegrass Country; Valerie Smith’s Bell Buckle Radio; Bluegrass Planet Radio; Panther Radio WKWC FM in Owensboro, Kentucky; and WESR FM in Onley, VA Along with broadcasting and performing, Jay also promotes and produces his own "Southern Maryland Bluegrass" concert series featuring today's headlining acts in Bluegrass. In the past, he has produced fundraising events for the Hospice of St. Mary’s County, Maryland and the Hollywood, Maryland Volunteer Rescue Squad as well as taking the leading role on a long running festival, the annual Lil Margaret’s Bluegrass & Old Time Music Festival that was held in Leonardtown, Maryland until it’s conclusion of 30 years. In 2023, he booked the talent lineup for the 51st annual Delaware Valley Bluegrass Festival in Woodstown, NJ. Ream more on this website.
